Anyone got a slide hammer I could borrow...?
Hi all,
After a frustrating weekend trying to replace a bearing on swmbo's tintop (a BMW E36 325 coupe) and failing, it looks like I need a bigger slide
hammer, and the 5-stud hub puller attachment for it. Several hours of physical and verbal abuse failed to get the hub off the trailing arm (and yes, I
undid all the bolts!).
Does anyone in / around Swindon or Oxford have one I could borrow? The Machine mart set is about 50 quid, and the Vortx is arriving in a couple of
weeks!
TIA,
Vince

Until they break.
Get a Volvo next time, the bits are dear, but they are very easy to work on and don't have much that goes wrong.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

If you have a welder you can make a slide hammer with a scaffy pole and a metal tube which fits inside it. Load it up with weight........I used the
clips that go with scaffy poles.
It exerts a lot of pressure when slid about two ft against a stop with two hands and 17 stone behind it
