Anyone got a slide hammer I could borrow...?

Hi all,

After a frustrating weekend trying to replace a bearing on swmbo's tintop (a BMW E36 325 coupe) and failing, it looks like I need a bigger slide hammer, and the 5-stud hub puller attachment for it. Several hours of physical and verbal abuse failed to get the hub off the trailing arm (and yes, I undid all the bolts!).

Does anyone in / around Swindon or Oxford have one I could borrow? The Machine mart set is about 50 quid, and the Vortx is arriving in a couple of weeks!

TIA,

Vince

Until they break.

Get a Volvo next time, the bits are dear, but they are very easy to work on and don't have much that goes wrong.

If you have a welder you can make a slide hammer with a scaffy pole and a metal tube which fits inside it. Load it up with weight........I used the clips that go with scaffy poles.
It exerts a lot of pressure when slid about two ft against a stop with two hands and 17 stone behind it
