Workshop facilities

How plush is your car building work space..

What luxurys do you have?

Over the years I have build cars and bikes in some weird places. Ive done a full rebuild on a bike five storys up on a flats balcony.
My beetles got built at work and a girlfriends house.....chee I loved that girl for here garage....... My seven was built in a store room for the local shebeen selling illegal liquor to the locals outside of hours. moved out when they demolished the building then got a share of a warehouse that got robbed and my wheels and tools got taken. That followed a few house moves and ended with the car getting shipped back to the UK where we had a cellar workshop for a time.
It ended up in my father in laws outhouse.

Sold the lot when I was broke and a student
restarted all over again

So boys where do you build and what crazy places have you had to work

One crazy loco man built on his patio in the dead of winter in Scotland

Seems the poll wont work the way I thought so just list on your postings

Moved house and the only thing I wanted was a double garage, my wife on the other hand, wanted the earth; and got 90% of it.

The only thing I havn't got is heating, as long as you have a little bit of carpet, a full beer fridge and a full 72 bottle wine rack for those bad days, what more do you need.

I started building at my dad's place, then moved house and got my own garage half way through building. The garage is attached to the house, so some of the things like a kettle aren't technically in the garage, but near enough. The wireless works OK out there so I have LCB access whilst working too.

I would like a bit more space and maybe a window, but that's being picky really.

When I came to view my current house, I got as far as the garage doors, got out my mobile and made an offer. I hadn't even seen inside the house.
The house is almost finished (after 10 years!) And the garage is soon to have a new roof, first floor and galley kitchen built!

I am building mine in my father inlaws garage and have a wood burning stove,tv,radio and a full bench with 2 vices. its a good size and we even had 2 chassis in it for a while. I have built stock cars in a small shed in the middle of winter before and that was no fun

I have a little fan heater, which is about as effective as someone at the far end of the garage blowing at me! Although I do have a big ally topped bench (which I nicked from work!) and a nice big vice. Still lacking much space to actually do anything, but a new shed should sort that out for a few months.

I used to work on the lawn, then cleared mum and dad's garage, which wobbled in the wind and was pretty dodgy, then I moved out and got my first house, hired a digger and built this:

Nat - iam amazed you have so much self restraint!! If i were in your shoes id probs have put the kitchen and living room in the garage and put a garage door in place of the front window!!! mind you from what i can remember the garage is bigger than the downstairs floor area anyway!!
What you have is what i was after when i built big garage at old house but now turned to property development instead. One day i fancy a std double sized but with added first floor as workshop area. old stone barn would be ideal............ dreaming..........
