Maybe I should reinforce my shelving...

Perhaps I trusted Machine Mart's finest shelving a bit too much...

Did you not see that one coming David
Must be catching, one of the draw runners on my 'Professional Heavy Duty' machine mart toolbox has collapsed today only had spanners in, so hardly being abused, Pile of poo, better start saving for a snap on

Weld a bit of Angle iron to the shelf. That'l fix it

I must weigh those things - a 10" 4-jaw chuck, a 12" faceplate, a 6" catch plate and a 24" c-spanner!

Whenever I want to put the 4-jaw on the lathe I always have to plan it carefully, as there is a high chance of putting my back out if I'm careless.

The solution will be a 1" thick piece of marine ply to go on top, with the shelf pulled up to it with screws. Probably find that the legs will collapse then...

Won't the 1" marine ply be a bit heavy.

That's not machine mart's 'finest', that's their cheap and flimsy range

I got these ones (350kg per shelf allegedly) where the mdf shelves are supported on all 4 sides.

The hammer together assembly makes it a pain to move them, even when empty, though.

I've got a couple of those elsewhere in the garage - they're OK. I got given this one (that's my excuse anyway).

Screwed the plywood to the top of the bent shelf today - I've seen thicker metal on a baked bean tin...
