CO2 will give carbon stained welds even with stainless wire, pure argon is cleaner. I bought a 5kg roll of mild steel wire from my supplier for £12 a
couple of months ago so they are not too bad.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

You need an argon+CO2 mix for SS really.
TBH if you weld it with mild wire it'll "take on" some of the properties of the metal being welded. If you weld SS with mild wire,
the weld seems to rust much less than if you'd welded mild steel.

Soooo, (he says trying desperately to not sound daft) what'll happen to the welds I did on my exhaust (ss to mild) using mild wire ? Thay seem
OK at the mo', but they're not exactly structural.
