welding galvanised panels help

Help i have a boxer mini bus to weld up and the side panels are i think galvanised

is there an easy way of doing it allready had a go inner sill welds perfect apart from outer spits and is a right nightmare

any help appreciated Rick

alright rick,best if you can sand off the galv back down to mild steel,80 grit

dont breath them fumes in it contains arsenic,and can give you galv fever very quickly

And drink loads of milk before you start welding - thats what I was told . Not sure why though ?

Galvanised panels use mig brazing.

Cos people actually believed it would "absorb" the nasties you were breathing in. As late as the mid-nineties, I got a pint of milk free at work if I was spraying

oh if it involves breathing in fumes and getting a hit of it il leave it to my students to do the welding

Just like flu, you drink the milk afterwards to cure it.

The galvaneal on car panels is so thin that it is not an issue, its not like they hot dip the minibus!

Whenever I am welding galv with a MIG I simply stick on a p3 respirator and go for it....it does all kinds of weird things, like create kinda cotton wool stuff that blows all over the shop and catches fire lol
