Grit Blasting
Had a go at a rusty steering arm from my donor with one of our industrial aluminium oxide blasters and the results are great. This only took about 5
minutes too!
Before:
(note - all the holes have been plugged up with part cured silicone to prevent the tapered surfaces getting blasted.)

Pick it out, melt it out, or use petrol. (Not all at the same time, as this could also remove your eyebrows....)
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

it should all come out as single pieces from each hole, I could always cure it by baking it (80 deg C for a few mins does the trick) then it goes like
rubber and will definitely come out no probs.
Actually I was thinking of making my fuel tank rubbers and some grommets out of this stuff as it can be hand formed into any shape and then cured.
It's really cool stuff!
