has anybody seen this front end done on a chassis before ? I bought the chassis last week and all I know it's been modified to suit a R1 bike
engine but I have noticed the front wishbones plates are they same top and lower (232mm) between the wishbone plates. The rear wishbones have been
done to the haynes roadster spec

In my opinion the steering rack mounts need beefing up a bit.
the steering rack has been made the same as the haynes roadster, what you think about the wishbones plates being the same ? has the builder copied another locost chassis ?
Looking at it, I'm guessing that the bottom brackets are as close together as the tops, which are standard (I don't have my Haynes book
handy).
If that is the case, then I would say that is a bad thing. I don't know for sure, but intuition tells me that it's the bottom wishbones
which take a lot of the reaction stress from braking, and that having narrow wishbones is a BAD thing.
That's what I was hoping people wouldn't say being a BAD thing !
Yep, the bottom wishbones react most of the braking forces.

Just to put this into perspective, (as I understand it), a Cortina upright will transmit the braking load in the order of 56% to the lower bone and
44% to the upper.

Does that mean with cortina uprights it will be ok to have the wishbones the same width upper and lower ?

I would be trying to determine what the chassis is. Are you going to make your own wishbones? if so I'd rejig the chassis to either the Locost or
Haynes design and fit the relevant wishbones. Far too many unknowns to give a better response - sorry.
