Bazz81, are you talking about track or road? what diff are you running?
cheers

Bit more info? Power commander etc?

bigbravedave - 8/5/09 at 01:20 PM

Ive' been trying to figure this out on mine with a zx12, sitting at 70ish + on the motorway (not pushing it on way to sva) I brimmed it did 32 miles and got another 8 litres in it so 18 miles to the gallon. On the way home I did 52 miles, traffic was chocka so 65mph most the way (with the odd blast) and got 11 litres in it so 21 ish mpg.

when christian driving everywhere it has achieved 23 mpg, on trackdays I wouldn't be suprised if it was down at 10-12 mpg?

bazz81 - 8/5/09 at 01:26 PM

road at about 120-140 km/h (75-88mph) 3.14 diff, powercommander installed but don't know if its properly mapped in this configuration! But what is average fuel consuption for a zx12 in a Mk indy??

eccsmk - 8/5/09 at 03:28 PM

about 15 mpg on a steady drive

altho in honesty its not the fuel consumption iim concerned with
its what happens when you press the throttle down

carlgeldard - 8/5/09 at 03:42 PM

I'd say with my set up 20ish max

Hellfire - 8/5/09 at 04:48 PM

Our ZX12R returns a consistent 18mpg and as much as 24mpg on a long run.

On track days, it drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion and it would be pointless working out the mpg.

Do you have a PC fitted and if so, have you had it mapped on a rolling road?

Phil

Mines a thirsty beast, 20 mpg max,it's deffinately overfuelling,it's going to be mapped at Powertec in the next couple of weeks on their rolling road with my pc111 power commander as the mapping is not right, will post my results after that.

i will get the car on a dyno very soon, and report here the stats!

Another little question....
The watertempof the car in taffic jam is hot in the indicator, the fan is on, but it can't get the temp. cooler, are ther any solutions to get better colling performance?

ive copied without shame hellfires idea
vents in the bonnet. my radiator has an alloy sheet behind it so air from the radiator exits where the front wishbones mount.
never been above three quaters on temperature gauge
i will try and get some pictures if i get my camera repaired tomorrow

Picture's will be perfect!!! sounds good to get the temp low!

richard thomas - 9/5/09 at 09:21 AM

Think i'm getting nearer 30 from my 'busa on a steady run of 70mph....

eccsmk - 9/5/09 at 04:09 PM

my camera wont connect to my computer so ill borrow another one,
pics should be up later tonight

eccsmk - 10/5/09 at 09:51 PM

sorry for the lateness of my piccy
ive loaded some new pics onto my pc but can i find them

anyway heres a pic where you can see the alloy shield. nothing fancy as it was only meant to be a trial

here are the vents the three holes start by the last exhaust header(the one nearest the bulkhead)

HTH

**edit**
just to add ive calculated my mpg on two tanks of fuel first was 14.8mpg

wow im getting about 28 mpg doing 60 on country roads with the odd blast. I still think its running rich (12.2 on AFR).

i dont suffer issues with temp and the fan holds it well, but its still cold so i wait till summer to see if she can take it then.

whats AFR??
also what airfilter/exhaust are you using please
thank you

air fuel ratio, i have a LC1 lamda sensor so i can check my fueling. I spend a few hours playing with it and the laptop to tweak one of the preprogrammed fuel maps in the power cammander. I really need to get it to a rolling road to make it better on part throttle.

ive got the ITG (?) airfilter and an unknown very small straight thru can (way to loud).

im a tad domb
i think a rolling road session is in order for me im starting to get bored of going to petrol stations
altho last trip out i managed 70 miles on a tank full (about £18 @99.9p)

Moorron - 12/5/09 at 07:11 PM

i found my fueling on a base map (so basically the original ecu map) was very very rich, so much it wasnt doing the engine any good. How black is your exhaust side rear wheel? i found mine was much more dirty than normal so it helped confirm my reading were correct and its running rich.

Good news for you is if yours is rich then after a tweak you will get free POWER! as running rich saps it.

Ive left mine like it is for now, i didnt want to risk running it lean for even a split second incase it blew the engine apart.

eccsmk - 12/5/09 at 09:01 PM

exhaust tip is jest black and sooty
it does blow flames from the exhaust when you lift off
and when ever you ease off the throttle its pops and bangs through the exhaust
could you post some figures your running please.
i may soon have to sort it out then
yhank you

I can give you a map. U2U you email addy and i will send over my current map (i assume you have the usb power camander?). If not i can ecport it into excel so you can see what changes i have made.

i will try and do this tomorrow evening for you .

eccsmk - 12/5/09 at 09:34 PM

your a star
u2u on its way

spent ages typing all those figures into my laptop which will no longer connect to the net
so i will have it loaded to my power commander tomorrow and see what difference it makes
thank you
