Hi all
Having finally started my winter jobs list, one major job to do is to get the car on the rollers and get it jetted. The engine is a carbed R1 engine
currently set to the manual stock settings.
My first question is which is best for the overall running of the car, stock air box (currently fitted) or an open sausage filter ( I already have one
with backplate)?
Secondly does anyone have any recommendations for a rolling road tuner for a Bec in Scotland? I've spoken to AVA turbos near Glasgow airport, the
guy has said he would do it but he was pretty un enthusiastic and it seemed it would be a bit of a chore. I would prefer to spend my money with
someone who has a bit of enthusiasm for the task.
I had thought of taking it to bogg bros but it's a fair hike from here.
doesnt matter what intake you use if its being tuned to it. dont think r1's are that sensitive to intake so would have the sausage - takes up less space, filters might be more expensive though.
Tbh space isn't an issue, it's just a case of I have both but wondered which is best.

We used the R1 box but had to reverse it to fit under our bonnet.
You have to modify the bottom as carbs are not equispaced .
If its good enough for Yamaha, why spend unnecessary money
& make it noisier .
Sorry can't help with the road.
Did not re-jet ours, just tweeked up the carbs nicely
That gave us 150 BHP on the rolling road .
