Hello all,
Does anyone know where you can buy new outer Sierra tripod CV joints? I have bespoke driveshafts and would like to fit new tripod CV joints rather
than changing the cans over and re-using.
If anyone has a link / part number / knows of where to get them I would really appreciate it.
Many thanks
Stephen
Do you mean these ones?
A dated post, but this might have the part numbers you're looking for if you decide to go for overhauling...

They are obsolete as far as I recall when i last asked at Ford.
Lobros for bolt on shafts are readily available

You can get complete 2.0 drum brake shafts with CV joints, new from J & R.
You could salvage the outer CV's from these (these ones have rubber boots and solid housings rather than the metal cans).

Another vote for J&R in Brum - very good indeed and good value
Hellishly expensive way to do it, but I converted a Ford lobro set up to tripode using GKN bolt on joints and Quaife output flanges.
This was on a Fiesta (IB5) set up. I have No idea if the Sierra is the same, perhaps someone will confirm that, it'd be good to know.

I still wince at what all this cost, but it hasn't broken (yet).

You can assemble them yourself if you can get the bits. Worth noting the joint is sprung and you have to peen the replacement metal cans in place. I found it best done with the spline end part held in a vice and pushing along the shaft to hold it all in place whilst preening the can.
