Need a bit of advice... I don't want to sound like a complete burke but I can't seem to get the discs off the rusty cortina hubs I've
got.
(I hope to replace them with some new ones - which reminds me I need to speak to Razman...)
I've spent the last few days undoing some very rusty bolts (with the help of Mr Lump Hammer ) but now can't figure out what to do! No
matter what I do the discs are stuck tight.... so what have I forgotten to do / undo !?

I had a similar problem with a set of Mondeo disks on my friends car. Turned out there was so much corrosion on the hub face / disk that no amount of
hammering would remove it. I had limited resources with me at her house and ended up using Mr Angry Grinder / chisel on it.
Guess you could try soaking in penetrating oil or lots of heat on the disk followed by a few whacks with a large hammer
heat, heat and more heat followed by a sound beating with your biggest hammer I reckon
Try pouring a kettle full of boiling water over the joint area. Leave for a couple minutes and then hit it.
I have fo it often works.

WOW.. This is the third time today I've recommended electrolysis.
It will remove all the corrosion and allow the parts to separate.

Will electrolysis remove rust thats formed between the hub and disks though as i thought it worked more "line of sight"??
Could be a useful way to remove rusted in bolts etc if it does!!
when i stripped my hubs i was told by a mate to go to halfords and some rust off
its made by hammerite and called rust remover you can get it in gell or lickwid and you mix with water just mix togather and leve to sook the longer
you leev it the better it comes out my front hubs went from orange rust to shiney silver its not cheep but it works mint

I have had discs on a car do the same.
I chain drilled holes from one edge to the centre being careful to use a depth stop and not damage the hub. Then angle grind or dremel to join them up
into a slot. Doesn't have to be all the way through at the hub.
Next get your lump hammer and a masonry chisel and split them.
I had a mare with the mundano ones and the first one took hours. second one took under 30 mins with this method

Ive also had mondeo disc trouble before - angry grinder worked a treat.
Electrolysis is worth a try first especially if you want rust free hubs to fit.
I had my mondeo hubs (and other bits) pro stripped and zinc plated.

Thanks for the replies.
Got some of that Rust Remover from Halfords as Big Hammer didn't work.
I think I'm going to have to look into this electrolysis business - after spending a number of hours this week loosing arguments with rusty bolts
(even when armed with with spanners and the lump hammer) I like the lack of effort required!
