anyone had any experince in making something like this?
Pipe / Tube Beading Tool on eBay (end time 02-Feb-11 13:01:11 GMT)
i know there's the oyster tool, i've got one, and i don't think it gives a wide enough bead personally. i've tried pliers with a lump on one side and groove in the other, and i didn't work very well, so, has anyone ever tried making anything like this?

ther must be a way of making something from an old vice... 2 wheels, one small, one big and use the vice to clamp them together, but i can't work out how without it being all wobbly

lol yeah, exactly like that! never seen one like that before, was just something i dreamed up in my head lol

wasn't sure if drilling the ends of a vice would be possible (aren't they hardened steel?!) or if bolts would be strong enough

Richard, careful now!

Or this and easy to use with the driven roller, but I like the vice idea! Top!

Locost way is to put 3 pop rivets in the tube equi-distant apart this then gives an edge for the hose clip to secure to so it wont blow off.

Has been fine in my bike engine, used for the top & bottom rad hoses.

Ash.

hmm some good ideas there, sure it would be easy to have some rollers made up,

can a vice be drilled and tapped easily? i think i've got a spare small one hanging about somewhere, might donate itself...

driving the outer roller might be easily done with a few extra holes and a grinder disc tool thingy

If you can't drill the vice body why not just make up two new vice jaws and drill those. These can be screwed on to the vice assuming it has removable jaws fitted.

I would stick to the oyster tool.

Ive done my water pipes and turbo boost pipes with the tool and have not had any hose come off, boots runs at 1.2bar.

Just make sure you use propper hose clamps

This tool looks great, just clamped into a bench vice (bit pricey though compared to the above vice solution)

Yes, theyre the type that crimp the lead sleeve on electric meters, but they have been decommissioned. You might be able to modify a normal set somehow?
