My son has a Panasonic NV-GS60 digi camcorder but has lost the software disc that came with the camera (if there was one!). How do i transfer whats on the camera onto the PC? I have a USB cable but no software. Would MS movie maker work? If not what would you recommend?

when you plug it into USB does the cam show as a external hard disc? if it does, drag and drop should work ok, and windows movie maker should be ok

Dont have that cam, but usually you can mostly always get the disc/software free from the manafacturers site. Though searching and finding is not too easy.

The editing software, Movie maker should do it, should be able to control the camera. It should be able to play, fast fwd etc, until you get to the right bit and then record - or you just record the lot and then split it etc in the software.

you can use movie maker to record the video from the camcorder.

I have done it that way loads of times with various peoples cameras!

Programs like Movie Makers, VideoStudio or Premiere will let you control the digital tape. You don't normally need the programs supplied on CD/DVD.....
