I've just been asked for Authentication details when opening www.bbc.co.uk by entering User Name and Password, looks as though it might be a scam. Just selected cancel and it went away.

Never been asked for it before and don't remember having to register in the 1st place.

are you at home, or on a work computer? if your on a work computer they may be having problems with authentication somewhere, or if they are using a proxy server?

we get it occasionally on the works machine when they're playing about with the proxy / DNS / i don't know what servers.

I get that if i try to load the radio player, i just put an x in username and hit return. Seems to work okay
