Time date change on start up
bob - 13/12/08 at 09:58 AM

For the last 3 days my PC at home has decided not to play ball, on start up i get a screen of options set up or default settings which ends up with the reset button and eventual start up. Then the date reads 5 nov 2003 00.00hrs which is probably the initial start up date of the pc when new or first configured,a change of date and time and all is ok.

My question is why ?

And what can i do get back to normal start up ?

the CMOS battery will be dead

thats the little one on the motherboard (its often a CR2032 - but check before buying)

aye, tiny little battery which keeps all the basic settings for the computer such as date and time...

It could be your alternator which has gone if the cmos battery isn't charging up... Or maybe even the distributor?

I've already changed the alternator dizzy and leads

Cheers lads i have a large packet of CR2032's it will give me something to do today
