Hi Guys
I've got an advent seven103 laptop and it's just lost the use of the number seven key, I've had the keyboard out but can't find
anything wrong, I can get a new keyboard from pc world for £22 . my question is ...is the cure that easy or will there be a fault on one of the chips
etc
many thanks and seasons greetings
Tony

just rub the lamp and your wish is my command
That was quick
well my post was funny before you actually wrote what was wrong and you just posted the topic title of 'LAPTOP KEYBOARD', sorry but cant help with the question at hand
I reckon its the keyboard, the keys don't have a connection each, they are multiplexed through so the same connections will be used by many keys. It is a combination that identifies an individual key. So if a chip failed I would expect multiple errors on the keyboard. If its only the number 7 then my money is on the keyboard, can't you swap the switch module to test it?
plug in a usb keyboard to test if it works get on the bay and buy a used one
for £22 for a new one is the bay really worth looking at as you wont know how much hammer a used one has had.
I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse form ASDA for £15.00 now i can plug the laptop into the TV and sit a trillion miles away and surf the net on a
30 inch screen
£15.00 well spent methinks
