converting video file types
locoboy - 7/1/09 at 07:48 PM

I made a vodeo on my mobile and put it on my pooter so i could transfer it to a memory stick for someone.

It has ended up as a quick time movie, my machine will play it using a quicktime player but it wont open in media player.

Now the person i have given the memory stick to has not got a quicktime player and its a works pooter and does not want to download quicktime player, can i convert the file type so it will open in media player, or can i adjust media players settings to play quicktime movies?

If i can do any of the above, how do i do it!

Cheers
Col

download a program called vlc. This is freeware and will play everything you need it to.

not sure for definite, but can't you open in it windows movie maker or something, and save it as something else more useful?

No this wouldn't work. A change of video file type requires reencoding. The easiest way would be to d/l a player that will play the file as it is originally. The other way is spend an afternoon with your computer and a specialised program (video converter - beware google as this is a highly sort after bit of software, viruses galor) chugging away converting it into a different file type

Try using something like this

Prizm Vidio Converter

You could install the Quicktime codec so mediaplayer will play the file ?
