hi
Whos doing the best deal for a laptop max £500 dont need a massive spec as only for internet browsing etc

You don't need to spend anything like that kind of money to get a decent spec BUT any new PC will come with Vista which needs memory -- it runs on in 1gb but really works better for multimedia with 2gb or more.

I only recommend 2 makes of laptop Fujitsu-Siemens or Toshiba.
It has only 1gb ram so enquire about an upgrade to 2 or 4 gb
Morgan computers have a decent deal on the Toshiba Tecra M9-12K Core 2 Duo
£403 inc vat -- they are a good and reliable company I have been dealing with them since 1988 without a single problem or late delivery.

I got an Acer 7720 (with slower CPU and smaller disc) just over a year ago.
Used every day - 100% reliable.

Highly recommend EEEPC 901. Works great on Linux or if you must get an XP version. Mine now runs MAC OSX after a bit of hackery that wasn't too difficult. Its really small so can go everywhere with me and has ages of battery life all for less than £300.
