Anyone used MS Sharepoint? Have just been given a project in work to streamline our documentation system using sharepoint.
Would anyone like to suggest any good resources.
Would like to add clickable lists and clickable jpegs for navigation and such
I work for a consultancy which specialises in it. Although im a SQL Server specialist i have done a fair amount with it
One key i would suggest would be to install faceted search makes life sooooo much better (Assuming you are on MOSS 2007)

We use it all the time in my office - works ok, can have it's 'interesting moments', but does the job without too much pain. Never lost anything (yet) despite the occasional glitch.
We use it for E-learning stuff as a portal storing documents and teaching lesssons from it.... Technically its very good... but interface wise for non IT tech people in an education environment... Eppic fail!
The use of SharePoint should really be decided once you have established exactly what you are wanting to do with the system.
If it is just for storage and retrieval then its a good option.
If you want an editorial system for creating large volumes of technical documentation with links and cross-references then I'd look at other
technologies especially if you are going to publish in multiple media e.g. web, print, mobile, ......

technology, not the other way around.
Wont say who I work for but we used 2003 up to this week. Got updated to 2007 and now its died. Not sure why but guess Microsoft dont make it easy to upgrade.
Id just like to comment on the previouse post. We are looking at a highly customisable server system not a desktop product so any 'upgrade' isnt really an upgrade its a migration and should be done by people who really know what they are doing. This is definatly one case where the responsabliity lies with the people doing the implementation not microsoft
