When you are writing a post, you have a series of buttons above the text entry box. If you click the one that has a green and blue circle with a few links of chain below it (fifth one from left), you get a small dialog box pop up. In here, write the text you want to appear in your post, click ok and then a second dialog box will pop up and you can paste your link into this.

Note that the text and link will always be inserted at the end of any text you have already written.

You can just post the link straight into your post, and this will work if the link is short enough, but won't if it's a very long link that wraps across two or more lines. It's always better to use the proper link button to avoid this though.

When you want to put a link in the reply, click the button just above the text box with a blue circle and a couple of links of chain in it. You get a pop up box where you type "a link to something interesting". Click OK. You get another pop up box and you paste the link in it. Click OK and the link is inserted into your reply.
