Click ok on this and then seems to work ok. Any ideas as to whats happening, also cant run a de-frag as it says something about chkdks wants to do
something first but never does.....
any help appreciated
OK firstly is chkdsk actually finding anything? Is it correcting any faults? You can run it yourself from start > run > cmd (enter) at the
command prompt type chkdsk /r (enter)
This will scan and repair faults if any.
Can't find anything on that specific DLL file.
If you run MSCONFIG from Start > Run you can look in the Startup tab to disable that command if you want to remove it from Windows Startup.
What is the message when you have to press F1 to boot into Windows?
Rich
looks like you had a disk error and chkdsk deleted the file as it was in a corrupt area of the file allocation table....
I agree with^^^, did you get any disks with your pc? It looks like you're missing a driver, which you can re-install off your cd, or the net if its still working.
xmewiai.dll --- strange dll file name If you google on most legitimate dll file names you can find out what they are and what software they belong
to, Do Google on xmewiai.dll and nothing comes up -- zilch nout, nothing, not a thing.
Boot in safe mode, and try an system restore from the earliest save restore point you have.
If that dosen't work run, boot in safe mode and run your an antivirus sweep.
