So I have my domain and hosty thing but can you guys suggest some freeware or such stuff to do my own website?
I'm running Vista which seems to have nothing to help me.
I want to avoid HTML gubbins as I have no idea what it is.
Cheers folks!
you're using Orchard as your webhost... why not use one of the auto-installation packages they have in their cPanel? It'll install the site
for you and you'll avoid having to do any (or very little) HTML coding.
What is your site going to have on it? Maybe we can suggest which of the packages to use as there are a few e.g. Joomla, Drupal, sitebuilder etc.
Many thanks for the swift reply.
I am using Orchard. Well remembered!
The site is for putting my various rubbish projects on for all to ridicule.
I've looked at cPanel but it meant slightly less than nothing to me! I downloaded Horde, which I thought was for webby building but it turned out
to be some nutty thing that sucked my emails into it.
Have you guessed that I'm a techno-luddite??
PS. I'm downloading Serif Webplus SE if that's any good.
Not used it myself but have heard of someone else mention it recently. Had a quick browse round their site and it seems pretty straightforward to install/use. Just remember though that as you will be downloading this package, you will need to manually upload it to the server to install it. Do you know about FTP access? (apologies if I am sounding condescending)
I understand that serif has a built in uploader that is luddite friendly
Not used it myself but a friend has mentioned it

Many thanks folks.
I've had a fiddle with the Serif doofer and it looks to be OK for my wooden-headed putery skills. It's too late to faff around now but
there'll be a webby coming soon!!
Download the trial here:

It's brilliant and so easy to use quickly. AND if you like it, it's cheap.

Google sites is also a very easy WYSIWYG website builder and is easy to incorporate other google apps like picasa for creating quick and easy picture
slide shows.
