flash/java problems. please help!
blakep82 - 5/6/09 at 11:01 AM

i use internet explorer (and no, i won't be switching to firefox or anything else, so don't suggest it it seems to be fire fox thats causing the problem)

i was having problems on one particular site that IE doesn't agree with, so used fire fox to try and get around the problems. it said i didn't have the right version of flash and to download the new one, which i did and it worked

now i can't play anything on youtube, or any other flash/javascript pages on IE.

any ideas whats happend? i can't find any plugins or anything disabled. fire fox has screwed up the settings somewhere... pages on IE say i need to download flash, which i do, and it still doesn't work

Hmmmm .... could it be that an older version of java is conflicting with the latest version that you have just installed?

Don't think it is a firefox issue, or an IE one come to that...sounds more like a conflict....

Go to Start> Control Panel>Add/Remove Programmes, and scroll down to see which/how many versions there is listed. Ideally all you want is the latest one you have recently downloaded (assuming your download was virus free an not corrupted).

Nonetheless you only want to see the latest version there.

As Fozzie said, make sure you've got the latest flash player installed. I'd remove any older versions (possibly even the most recent version too), and try again with a fresh download. Think there's even a removal tool you can get from the flashplayer / adobe website that can help you... but don't hold me to that!

Have you got the adblock add on in firefox?

I was having the same problem. I disabled adblock and now flash player works again.

awesomeness!
thanks Fozzie
went in, just deleted anything that said flash in the add/remove programs thing
went back to install flash, and although the other times it said it was installed properly, it looked a little different this time, but more importantly it now works!

Glad it worked
