just wondering if anyone could explain the point of these things, and what would happen if i deleted them all? theres bloody millions on my computer
and one of them came up as a trojan on the virus detector, but i cant find the specific one to delete...
plus, if i remove all the cookies 'to make it tidy' will the good ones just come back eventually?
thanks...
Internet pages will be slightly slower to load, and sites like this you will have to sign in again. But eventunally you will have all the ones you need again so wont be a problem. If you are on broadband prob wont notice the difference.
temp internet files are little odds and sods that your computer saves to help make sites load faster, normally best to delete them every so often.
cookies are little thingumies that holds login info for sites, and other records, again, best to clear out now and then, but remember, you'll
have to login to sites again after
In the tools section on internet explorer you can open the internet options section and go to the advanced heading. Then scroll down to the security
bit and set it to empty the temporary internet folder every time the browser is closed down. It doesn't clear cookies so you won't have to
sign in to sites like this one if you opt to stay signed in like on ebay or such.
yours, Pete.
brilliant, thanks all. I'll do as pete says. Took about 5 mins to delete them all, thought it had crashed it clattered the disc for so long!
