I have a new AOL wireless modem router.I want to install it on a pc with another internet provider. Can you depersonalise and get it to work as it seems to only want to install on AOL account pcs
What model is it?
thomson 585
Not familiar with that one but most modem/routers have a factory settings reset button that should restore the (non AOL) default settings.
Google for a generic manual for it which should explain how to reset it and then reconfigure it, so you can use it with the settings from your ISP.
I would guess that even with a factory reset it will still only want to work with AOL. What I think you need to do is update the firmware which you
can get from here
Make sure you pick the correct version, all the info you need should be on a label on the router.
Depending on the version I would assume you need one of the general firmwares below.
ST585v5 xDSLGA-Wireless_Firmware_UK_gen_ST585v5_en_5-4-4-1 Firmware ---v5 General
ST585v6 xDSLGA-Wireless_Firmware_UK_AOL_ST585v6_en_6-2-T-2 Firmware ---v6 AOL
ST585v6 xDSLGA-Wireless_Firmware_UK_Be_ST585v6_en_6-1-4-3 Firmware ---v6 Be
ST585v6 xDSLGA-Wireless_Firmware_UK_Be-Wh_ST585v6_en_6-1-4-3 Firmware ---v6 Be-Wh
ST585v6 xDSLGA-Wireless_Firmware_UK_gen_ST585v6_en_6-2-T-2 Firmware ---v6 General
