is there such a thing that can be plugged into USB printer to make it WiFi wireless?

i.e. so I can print from lappy without cables.

oh, it also needs to be powered by t he printer from its USB as opposed to have its own power supply and as small as possilble.

have you already got a desktop PC wired into a your router? it might be possible to do it without buying anything extra....

i can't remember how i did it exactly, but i've got a wireless router, and a desktop PC wired right into that. the desktop has the printer plugged into it though the usual printer port in the back. i've got it set so i can print from my laptop, through the desktop, and into the printer.

of course it mean the desktop has to be on all the time, but it is for email anyway

Some routers have a usb port which can be used to run a printer - BT home hubs are an example I believe

the home hub does have usb ports on it, didn't know you could put a printer straight to it though

Most of the Draytek routers have the USB function on them.

Excellent bits of kit, used loads of them over the years. Currently on a 2820, which does the USB printer thing and ADSL2+.

Oh, if it's an HP printer, and has a parallel (old style) printer port, eBay up a 'Jet Direct'. Nobody uses them any more as they go cheap. But, they're not wireless, so you'll need to run a cable to your router so that your laptop can see it via the wifi.

The latest BT home hub (The black curved one) can be used for remote printing and also file sharing, IE plug in an exteranl hard drive and any comp on your network can access it. Used it for both quite easy to setup
