We have a website at work, and I'm thinking about setting up a forum for customers to discusss tech. queries and FAQs
Very simple compared to this , but what software do i need?
I spend my days doing industrial software , but never done web based stuff

any opinions mucho appreciated!

Use another host such as Bravenet - they have similar forums for free.

Pretty customisable too...

I have a link on my website go to Guestbook and join here!

Fine, if you're happy putting up with popups, adverts, and the fact that it might go down at any moment!

If you want a managed forum like this one you either need a server that supports something like PHP or Perl and a database engine hooked up to it (I use MySQL). This site is based on a hacked about version of XMB (www.xmbforum.com) but there are others such as phpBB out there.

If it all sounds too daunting drop me a line by email and I'll be more than happy to quote for the job!

Ads and pop-ups aside never had a problem with them...
