RSS Feeds - what, how etc

Hmmm, I fear I'm late on the uptake on this.

What are RSS feeds, how do they work and how can I get them?

Thanks

Really Simple syndication....

Its basically an XML feed provided by websties with all the latest updates fr the page.

If you go to the BBC for example you can click on the RSS logo and it gives you the xml page...

You can either read that page, or download a plugin for firefox that reads the xml file and displays it on the screen... perhaps on a scrolling marque, or just on a page that you click on...

I personally think the tech is a lot outdated and is generally a bit cack!

rss feeds as mentioned above are simple web page type sources of information which are as basic as possible, I agree

However I find them extremely useful to keep informed about subjects that I find interesting and important so that if there's ever a minute or two that I need to fill I can refer to them and be completely informed. They save having to read entire webpages to gleen information.

My nokia mobile phone has a built in rss feed element which automatically updates my subscribed feeds for me to review at my leisure
