dont laugh,it,s for a friend
It a cut down operating system.
It doesn't have a hard disk.
It will struggle with office apps - word, excel etc, if it runs them at all.
You'd need an external drive to back any data up onto.
When you've done, you're probably better off with a regular laptop.
she just needs it to input some data using "word" and then e mail it,it wont be used to store much info ,recon it would work?
It doesn't run Windows so you won't be able to run MS Word. May run Open Office (slowly) on the Android version though.
Why not get a second hand netbook/notebook that will actually run a proper operating system as a sensible speed?

If you look at the architecture and OS of this system, it's pretty mcuh the same as loads of others for sale on ebay and indeed one that your
local maplins stocks for £99.
We actually looked at getting one, but ultimately it's very compromised.
The Maplins one would do little of what a full sized machine can do without breaking sweat - windows CE 5.0 is old hat.
As a comparison, £220 buys you any number of fairly useful spec netbooks form your choice of high street retailer. £160 if a refurbished one is
acceptable.
If £80 - £100 is the budget, I would buy a used real computer to be honest.
It might be more useful when it runs Android, which is a form of Linux. My current phone, a Google G1, uses the same system and it's
surprisingly powerful - not as good as a full operating system, but way ahead of Windows CE and Symbian.
As one of the reviewers said (paraphrasing) - does it have a good browser? can you edit files? can you read emails? Android can do all of those
things, so as long as it has a decent communication system (probably WiFi rather than mobile phone) then it has a use - especially at that price.
ok then it,s rubbish, cheers for your input peeps
