Anbody used anything which worked well
I currently use word documents but find it infuriating.

Sorry, I previously said I wanted recommendations for Journal software, I used an Americansim and meant Diary Software for work

a few depeartments use endnote where i work.
I've used the zotero plugin for firefox which integrates with word and/or openoffice.

I tend to use papers for mac but endnote is good for windows machines

yes but I kind of wanted a personal work log as opposed to one owned by my employer if you get my drift
I don't use outlook on any of my own machines
