... just bought a t-mobile mobile broadb and usb stick 610 from argos - they has spesh off; 1/2 price if you buy £ 10 t-mobile top up.

.... but have I got the right thing?

I assume the top up code is for the mobile broadband, as opposed to a phone - the brochure that this was in stated unlimited monthly use (where unlimited once the small print is read has a limit!!)

presumably I plug the usb device and it does its magic and will ask me for the code? or some other way to do it?

the usb device box states: pay per day .... hmmm, wasn't aware of that ... anyone have an idea of cost? (I was under the impression that I get 1 months unlimeted BB, pay per day usually works out more ££££

I have one of them from T-mobile on contract - £10 a month. I can't make detailed comments on the contract you've got, but it does sound like you've got pay as you go.

The stick has a small amount of memory - this holds the driver and installer. IIRC, I plugged mine in and it auto-loaded. When finished, you just run a connection program then start your browser or whatever.

Mine works quite well, with only occasional loss of signal during my train journey.

bound to be saame dvice (I believe that is can take some sort of memory card so can act as USB memory stick thing).

mine is payg ... question is what is the detail and how to top up?

Quite thoughtfully, T-mobile make them available in 2 colours:

black for CEC owners and pink for BEC owners.

i have the old Vodaphone ( credit lasts until it used ) rather that the new that only lasts a month ( as I belive is the norm for most PAYG ) but I may be wrong.

I can top up using the vodaphone interface though my original £15 is only down to 11 in the 12 months I have had it.

don't know what deal your on, but my orange one is running on some weird contract that only has a little data + texts for £5 per month, which they discount off my phone to make it free or something....???? (all I know is it costs me nothing as long as I don't use it much)


my understanding is you can stick any sim card you like in the dongle (assuming its not locked to one network) and it'll just use your data 'minutes'
(but I could be completly wrong about that)

one thing is for sure though - no matter which network it is, how good the signal is or what dongle you've got - they are all painfuly slow

I got one the other day direct from T-mobile, so it appears to be their offer.

The stick is half price, with the £10 top-up as you say. But it's a little more complicated than that!

When you put the stick in, it acts like a USB memory stick and contains the installer program. Once run, it will ask you to top up and the left-hand option is the special offer - it costs £2 per day, but on your first top-up, it will give you a full month for £2. After that it is £2 a day, £7 a week or £15 a month. 2Gb a day, but no charges if you go over. Repeatedly going over will throttle your connection.

I've been using it for when my landline broadband drops out, as we've got problems with the line at the moment.
