slingshot2000 - 18/1/11 at 11:26 PM

Hi,
have just spent 5 hours inputing electrical test results into a spread sheet and have accidentally closed it down with out saving!
I know it a numpty mistake, but it is late!
Can anybody help me make this machine go backwards abouy 30minutes, please ?
The program is Microsoft Excel, if that helps and the pc is using windows XP Media Centre Edition.

Thanks in advance

Jon

Have you set it to Autosave? If so, you have a chance.

If not....

As I dont have a clue what autosave is I very much doubt it. On my laptop I can reset the machine, is it not possible on this pc ?

Have a look in the default folder that Exel saves stuff in for any odd looking file names, you might be lucky that one of them is a temporary exel file. I think autosave is on by default.

Where might I find that ?
Thanks

Try:
Cocuments and SettingsYOURNAMEApplication DataMicrosoftExcel

Might be lucky, I think the default autosave is 10 mins

Cheers, will try that

I think that if you closed it properly, even without saving, it deletes the autosave files

Yes, that looks exactly like what I so stupidly did ! Ok, off for a LARGE vodka and some peanuts !
Thanks to everyone who responded!

Anyone care to have a bet on what I will be doing in the morning ( after re-submitting these results) ?

Jon
