BT Yahoo or whatever they are called this month have made themselves very unpopular with thier customers by moving to cap broad band downloads-- the
limmits are such that anyone download large files such as movies or Linux iso will soon hit the wall.
This is not the first time BT Openworld/BT Internet/Bt Yahoo has changed its T&C to force a significant downgrade of service on its users.
As a result a net storm is tearing through BT news groups with a lot of unhappy punters migrating to other ISPS .
I had started migration to Zen internet before the news broke due to my disatisfaction with BTs news, mail and dns servers and the general lack
of good taste that the Yahoo link has brought to the organisation. If I had wanted an AOL type service I would have signed with AOL.
Migration is painless -- loads of free deals, I an going to Zen, not only cheaper but includes fixed IP addresses.

i'll just put a note in for eclipse internet been with them over a year, no bandwidth limits, consistently
really bloody fast, admittedly not the cheapest, but that's life 
plusnet are meant to be pretty good too

Thats BT for yer bunch of tossers,we are BT dealers and having to work with em is a nightmare as any independant Telephone supplier will tell you.
I cant even get Broadband yet thanks to BT so I cant even use AOL or any other supplier till BT have upgraded our exchange.
A couple of years ago they were telling us to sell ISDN its the dogs doodahs, now to our amazement you cant have broadband delivered on ISDN lines but
you can throughout europe.

the really, really annoying thing here is that
japan (and other bits of asia certainly) have 10+ meg connections to the home.
in the US you can get 5-6meg down / 512k up.
in the uk you get limited 512k/256k and pitiful bandwidth limits.
the sad thing here, is that all of these services cost about the same.
I went to these from Freeserve and have been highly satisfied with the product. Static IP uncapped 512k for £22.99 a month. They do a full range up to 2meg but I can't justify the expense.
If you can get telewest go for it up to 3meg no caps.

It must only be new connections then? as my 512Kb/s is £27, and i've not had anything telling me about monthly limits

I've just read on the f2s forum that they are doing a 1 gig service with a 5gig monthly limit for £14.99. That's got to be a good deal for anyone who's just thinking of moving up from a dialup service. I was paying more than that for dialup a few months ago.

I had a few problems at first, but that was down to BT not connecting the line properly, I now have a 1Mg conection off peak and a 512Kb peak time,
for £19.99 per month , no complaints from me yet , but then again havn't been with them for any length of time, fingers crossed
