My old computer died a while back, and a friend of a friend has given me the following quote for a new one.
I'm not really up on computers, do you reckon it's a decent deal for the money?

ive priced it up at about £600 on ccl site using my pricing.

so if you thing the 1 year onsite warranty is worth the rest then its ok.

just be aware that your

ram is lifetime warranty
motherboard is 5 years
hard drive is 3 years
processor lifetime

dont buy this setup if you dont play games alot and use it for new games ongoing.....

PC's are so good these days it's hard to imagine wanting to pay more than £3 - £400 for a desktop, unless you need the ultimate performance for video editing or game playing.

look cheap enough.
I don't play games at all, but do use photoshop a fair amount, hence the
need for a decent spec with lots of storage capacity.

Not sure about windows though, different versions of 7 seem to range between £80 and £160
Am i right in thinking older software won't run on the 64bit versions? I used to run XP Pro on the old machine.

i7 is still the "one" and therefore a premium is paid for it, the cost is also shown on the Mobo that accomodates it would guess, i went for AMD over intel, for a med spec gaming pc, and haven['t been dissappointed.

That CCL system looks fine (I have that exact same case ) and will do all the internet surfing and photoshopping you could possibly want. You don't need an i7 by any stretch of the imagination. I've used CCL a fair bit in the past and they are very good. You could of course build yourself from components for cheaper (and fun!).

Windows 7 is nice - 64-bit OEM will be ideal and everything will run on it unless you're stubbornly trying to use some ancient piece of hardware or software. Be aware that the OEM version is tied to a mobo, so you wont legally be able to carry it to the next machine - maybe not a problem. CCL prices are the retail going rate, but look around. I just picked up Win 7 Ultimate full version (not OEM) new, sealed, fully legit off Ebay for 60 squid .
