I have an overwhelming sense of well being after fixing my Dell Inspiron 1501
It was constantly overheating and shutting down. I thought maybe it was gummed up with dust but I was always reluctant to dismantle a laptop for
obvious reasons
I bit the bullet and took it apart warning SWMBO that it'll probably never work again, I cleared a 4mm carpet of dust from the front of the
finned heat sink. Put it all back together and voila CPU core haven't been over 50 deg and the cooling fan never comes on.
Do this to all my electronic appliances on a regular basis....PCs, Laptops, Consoles, DVD Players - even the Tellies....
Should add that I don't take them apart, but use my long air hose to go round the house blasting them out....
Well done . I did something similar on my wife's Acer including replacing a broken fan. Bought the fan on ebay based on the picture but it
ended up totally the wrong size. Had to locost bodge it in by shaving the blades/house and using plenty of superglue. If your's was anything like
my wife's laptop, getting it all back together at all with no left over screws is an achievement in itself
