A page came up saying that the Windows security had been compromised, and all sorts of horror messages popped up on the screen, screaming doom and disaster if I didn't do what they suggested.

To which my rely was - "I'm on Linux, not Windows, so up yours!"

I just went into a command-line terminal and killed the Firefox process (I couldn't close the browser in the normal way). Excitement over...

Funnily enough I got the Windows Security Update page last week, I too am running Ubuntu. I bet it still scares enough people to click the links.

have to say that my free version of AVG has been doing a great job blocking any virus's quite impressed tbh
