Got a £500 budget.
I work in IT so do know roughly what I want spec wise just not aware of any deals going on hence posting here:
Ideally (largely in order of preference):
1) High resolution screen - would really like 1920x1080 min, my work Lenovo is this and my battered old Dell (about 7years old) is 1920x1200.
Doesn't need to be physically large but the two do usually go hand in hand else the text is too small for most people. Not a problem for me, if
they did a 15" screen in this resolution it would be ideal
2) Decent make and fairly rugged but still fairly lightweight (Lenovo seem to fit this bill)
3) Wouldn't rule out a tablet or something unconventional as long as it had good connectivity, I do have access to other laptops (my old ones /
work one etc).
Any suggestions of something interesting for around the £500 mark basically or any super good deals you've seen. It can go over but definitely
no more than £700.
No Apple suggestions please!
Edit to say I realise I won't get 1920x1080 on a tablet (AFAIK!). Also OS can be legitimately provided by work so doesn't need to be
included if that helps bring it under budget.

Anyone got one of these:
http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/iconia-tab-w500
Basically a tablet that can dock onto a keyboard and turn back into a laptop when you want a proper keyboard (ok you could do similar with a bluetooth
keyboard but it still seems quite smart and probably adds extra ports as well etc)
Still looking...
Why isn't this available yet?

The Acer W500 seems to get a bit slated as you can't just shut it like a netbook when you've got the keyboard attached - very fiddly
apparently.
The new Samsung 10.1 Tab would be my choice..for browsing and email...
Hmm no support for USB devices though which is a shame - otherwise looks very good.
Anyone got an Asus Eee Pad Transformer?
Check out QVC shopping today. nice Toshiba £380 ish dual core .
Gone for an Asus Eee Transformer. It's charging up now
First tablet I've bought but 16hrs life and microSD slot to expand it in the tablet half and full size SD and 2x USB and mini-HDMI in the
keyboard dock. Claims it can play back HD, wonder if it'll manage 1080p on to my big LCD TV or if they only mean HD to meet the spec of
it's screen (so more like 720p)...
