itunes help

Guys,

Can i swap itunes content (just music no apps) onto another laptop with a fresh itunes account on it?

Reason i ask is that a family member used to have her music on her mums work laptop but her mum is now returning her laptop to work so we need to somehow pull the music from it and drop it into a new laptop with the daughters own itunes account on it.

I 'think' all the music is ripped from CD as opposed to paid for downloads if it makes any difference.

Part of me thinks that its not going to be possible in order to stop the world sharing itunes content and not paying for downloads but part of me thinks ..........what happens if my laptop goes tits up and i am lucky enough to be able to retrieve the music and i want to bang it on my new laptop.

Any help appreciated. - i have an 80gb external drive that would be big enough to dump it on if indeed it can be copied across.
Thanks
Colin

Just copy the files across. You'll lose playcounts and ratings.

ETA, you'll need to import them into the library on the other PC

Find the folder where the files are stored (something like usernameMy MusiciTunes) and copy them to the new pc. You might want to put them on disc here and save them as a backup. Then you can import them into itunes on the new pc from the disc. If they are ripped tracks you can have them on as many machines as you like.
