So... spent a very frustrating couple of hours trying to make a bootable DVD.
What I'm trying to do is update the firmware on the RAID controller of an HP DL180 G6 which has no OS.
I need the latest version of Smart Update CD and patch it (the CD image) with the latest firmware .exe then burn it as a bootable DVD.
So, I've downloaded the latest Smart Update .iso file.
I've opened/expanded it into a directory using Winzip.
I've added the downloaded RAID firmware to the correct path in the unzipped .iso directory.
Now I need to burn it to a DVD as a bootable DVD.
The original .iso is bootable I believe and I expect if I just burned what I'd downloaded then I could boot from it... but that would be with the
old RAID f/ware.
When I burn the expanded .iso, even if I tick 'Make DVD bootable' it won't boot from the DVD.
I believe I may need a .img file? But isn't this on the bootable .iso anyway?
Have so far tried Total Media Suite, Nero, IsoMagic and a few others but not made any progress.
Please could someone explain what I'm doing wrong in words of one syllable!
Thanks!!!
James
