MS Project Problem-Can anyone Help
liam.mccaffrey - 5/10/11 at 01:55 PM

I'm having trouble with a project file. trying to set up a project based on tasks that take multiples of half days 1, 2, 3.5, 7.5 etc and on a working week of M,T,W,T,F and a half day saturday where weekdays are obviously 1 day duration.

However i seem to set things up I can get things right. It keeps pushing the end of each task into the morning of the next day. So by the by the end of a 4 month program I'm over by weeks and weeks. If I set up a 1 day task it finishes on the following morning bumping the end of its dependent task into the middle of the third day.

Another example is I have a 7.5 day task which is showing on the gantt chart as a 10 day task despite being entered as a 7.5 day task on the duration pane on the left.

I'd previously set this up graphically in excel using shaded cells which worked great, but I'm losing the will to live on project!!!!

Can anyone help?!!?!?!?

MS Project bases it calcs on a 5 - 2 week, and so 7.5 days would show as a week and a half,.....

u2u if you want to email me a file to play with,...

And there was me thinking this'd be about Megasquirt

Project is the spawn of the devil and a great example of the difference between precision and accuracy ("This project will end at 11:23am 05/06/2013 because MSP says so!", very precise, very unlikely to be accurate.)

Me too, but I have to use Micros$t evil son of satan, so might be able to confuse the situation a little further

open the calendar and set up your default working week to include 4 hours on saturday.

Enter your tasks as hours.

Schedule on hours not days.

(if that doesn't work - get someone who knows what they're doing involved).
