Hi all
i have an off topic question for any xbox 360 experts.
My son has what i would call a mk1 360 that has started to give a few problems.
So he has bought a hardly used one from a friend,to swap the hard drive over
instead of getting his old one repaired.
I have changed the hard drive over and tried to log into his live account but for some
reason the password or account name are not recognised.I have been onto the live
website and checked/changed the password but it still won't let us log into his
live account.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Andy
My first question would be "has the new Xbox ever been Modded?"
If so, then it may well have been banned from "live".
I am not sure the symptoms you are getting would be similar to a banned xbox though?
sounds like a banned console. you could phone microsoft to find out and say you brought it off ebay, if they start asking to many questions
when i got a banned 1, i found out that i could not save games to my hard drive, try that first.
steve
That is a good question and it's one that
i cannot answer.
A phone call in the offing then
Thanks for that,
Andy
This is a method to see if it's banned not sure how reliable it is but worth a try.
got from a xbox forum
1. Remove All Storage Devices (hard drive, memory stick, usb drives) Turn on the xbox 360.
2. When you get to the home screen there will be no profiles found. That's because you removed your hard drive/memory card which contained all
your profiles. Easy to understand =).
3. Now go to system settings.
4. Go to Network Settings.
5. Click Test Xbox Live Connection
6. Start connection and wait for it to finish.
7. When it is done you should get a message saying to update your system. Here is another important thing you need to do DO NOT UPDATE!!!!! I REPEAT
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM!! Just click No, don't update.
8. You should get a test connection failed message. Just click cancel.
9. After that click Y and you should get a list of numbers or codes.
Check your code under the letter Z
It should say Z: "whatever the code is"
Here are the codes to determine if your console has been banned.
Z: 8015 - 1002 or any other variation means you have not been flagged yet.
Hurray but still be cautious when playing online.
If it shows something other than that like
Z: 8015 - 190D, that means that you console has been flagged or banned.
