Triple screen Laptop Problem
tilly819 - 23/4/12 at 12:28 PM

Hi all,

I am having trouble attaching 2 external screens to my laptop,

I have a VGA port and a HDMI port on a Gforce GT330M GPU windows 7 home pre 64bit

I want to extend displays across 2 external screens one on HDMI and one on VGA

I can get a single extra screen working no problem but when i try to use 2 extra, the screen is detected and come up in the list but does not display a picture, if i use the extend display option then apply changes it will somtimes extend onto the 3rd screen but will disconect the second.

I am begining to wonder if this is possible but i now plenty of folks who attach 2 monitors to there laptops but they have tend to have a VGA and a DVI

any help would be great

thanks
tilly

I would be supprised if your laptop allows you to extend across three screens.

It will probably allow extend acros either of the outputs but not both AND keep the laptop monior.

You should be able to dual screen or extend the two outputs but as you have said this will turn off your main screen.

I am not fullyupto scratch with Windows 7 but I thought it was always maste and secondary screens.

Will depend on your graphics chipset and how the laptop is wired.

3 screens is unlikely to work in the majority of cases, though.

Reminds of an interview I saw on TV a year or so ago... Terry Pratchett was at his desk, looking at 6 screens - 3 over 3. When asked why he had 6 screens, he answered "I haven't got room for 8!"

that was a desktop though, so he can always add another graphics card - its a bit tricky on a laptop
