I have a windows 7 compaq Presario CQ56 which has developed a display issue. after startup when ever I go fullscreen with an on screen window the display becomes scrambled minimizing the window unscrambles the screen. Though some colour problems still remain.

The VGA output to secondary monitor works fine.

I'm starting to do all the virus and ad ware checks now as well updating the display driver if possible.

Can any one think of of anything else ~I can try?

I would have said graphics driver first then possibly overheating graphics chip?

Does the problem still occur on the same screen if you swap the monitor outputs over?

It's a laptop so unfortunately can't do that

Ah right, didn't realise it was a laptop. Does it do the same if you lower the resolution a bit?

Yes it does it regardless of what display settings you use.

It does it if you load up a linux live CD too!?!?!?

Can't be a driver issue then and because its ok one the vga out sounds like the LCD has a fault to me
