Hi guys,
Can anyone recommend a piece of free software that can be used to test your Internet speed. We have virgin optical 50mb connection and at the moment I
can't even do a google search on my desk top.
ATB
When things get like that for me with our rubbish bt hub I just switch it off and on, all very technical
speedtest.net is the easiest option, but if you can't get Google then you won't get speedtest.net either. As Mr Whippy suggests, might be worth simply switching your modem off and on again.
And don't forget the connection speed is to the internet, as soon as you hit the internet its no longer the ISP's problem.
Speedtest.net is good but is on the internet so only a guide. Still the best one I have found though.
Thinkbroadband Speedtest http://speedtest2.thinkbroadband.com:81/speedtest.html
It may however not be a line problem just a DNS problem which will usually resolve itself after 24hrs.
Or you could change your settings to point to Googles' DNS server pair at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
