Windows 7 not starting
Minicooper - 6/9/15 at 09:40 AM

We have 4 Windows 7 computers in our little office, they are all shuttle PC's, 3 are 4 months old and 1 is 2 weeks old.

All have been working as normal until this morning, all 4 won't start, all 4 have the same repair windows screen, all 4 won't repair. They are not networked together and have no other connection other than the power supply. All upgrades are loaded at the time of build then automatic windows updates are switched off, which is standard practice for these particular PC's builds.

I'm assuming that it is a triggered by date upgrade maybe but it is very odd

Any ideas would be very helpful

Cheers
David

Do you mean they have no network connectivity at all, either Ethernet or WiFi? If so then it can't be a Windows upgrade.

Did the power to the building fail at some point over the weekend? Can you rule out either malicious intent or gross stupidity (e.g. someone trying to open something on a virus infected USB stick and having problems so trying all the PCs)?

Thanks Mike,

We have had a look and we think the automatic bios start up at 9am was interrupted a few seconds into the start up routine by a power failure.

We have managed to repair all four PC's using a system repair disc so we will see how it goes
