Jpeg Problem
Dick Axtell - 8/6/16 at 10:55 AM

To the collective brain here on LCB;

Am running Win 10, and have been for some months. Went to view some of my jpg images, which can be seen clearly in thumbnail, but won't open fully (today, that is: been working ok previously).

An error message appears, listing the image's file location and stating ..."Class not registered".

Can anyone explain what's goin' on? Haven't changed anything on the PC - as far as I'm aware.

quick fix :

try right click on an image and then 'open with' select whichever program you wish to use.

If there is no class association you will normally get a prompt 'always use' tick this box,

At the moment windows doesn't know what to use to open the .jpg extension

If that does not work or if you have the same issue with other file types then google 'dcom config'

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the advice. Have discovered the "right click" option, which allows me to use Windows viewer - but not the "TWINUI" version!

But why now - when everything worked beforehand? What has interfered with ALL my settings (including the list of internet favourites)?

Microsoft have a real thing about applying updates to your PC. Often unasked for and prone to changing things that worked OK before.

Would suspect that it was probably windows update kb/3156421, massive update recently that on some peoples machines has caused a few issues.

It contained an update to the new MS browser (edge) and this could have an impact on stored data such as favourites and passwords etc.

If you find any other class links not working try:
