Ok clever peeps, i want to download some music and burn it to a cd.
i usually listen to it on you tube so did a bit of research but it seems there are loads of ways of doing it.
as i have the pc knowledge of a potato, i want to know, what would be the easiest prog to use that would work, should be free and easy enough for a
simpleton like me to master

There are many free programs that will allow you to rip music (or indeed, video) directly from YouTube - for example
MP3jam would do the job.
Whether you are comfortable with the moral and copyright legal implications is up to your own conscience.
YTD if down loading from youtube, but be careful when installing as it tries to install extra software you dont need. Nothing dangerous, just extras
add-ons for internet explorer etc. Just watch for the messages that come up asling you to accept or decline, decline all accept the YTD software
itself.

don't install any programs or add-ons to rip music
find the song you want on youtube, then go to the address bar and type ss before youtube and then choose audio mp4 and download it.
Then just burn them to a cd using windows

Burn a CD? Can't recall the last time I did that, but you can download a free version of Media Monkey to burn CDs...

what? why are you using CD's? their not much better than tape. Don't tell me your using a discman?
A little MP3 player or just your phone is worlds better. Even if your playing them in an old car you can just get a SD card player that broadcasts on
a radio channel, usually plugs into the 12v socket.
I picked up a Bluetooth radio for the Volvo from Halfords for £60 that just connects automatically to my phone when I get in the car, gives me hands
free to and plays the sound of games through it when I'm waiting for the kids.
Thanks Nick, i shall try that later and Mr Whipy, i still have 12" records (remember them ?) and have only progressed to CD,s since my new (ish)
car has a cd player .
