They gave warning about this at least 6 months back which is why AOL and other started advertising unlimmited braoadband.--- Typical BT trick which they played before -- a lot of BT users kicked up a stink about this in the BT usenet groups at the time.

Best advice I can give is migrate from BT but don't go to any of the big brand ISPs -- compare the ratings at the adslguide.org.uk the rating get disorted because of voting by ISP's own staff but the real ISP companies like Pipex, Zenetnet Pipex always score better than BT Wanadoo Tiscalli Virgin and AOL .

I am with Zen migration was painless and free the only difficulty was stopping BT deducting money from my credit card so I would suggest if you pay this way changing your payment arrangement before migration.
Since moving to Zen I have had no service outages, no DNS problems and spam has dropped to zero :-)

When I'm out of my contract with Wankadoo, I'm going with INTERNET CONNECTIONS just because I can... oh and he seems like a great bloke.

Roll on April...

What f**** me off is that I work for a large ISP and would get the 4 megs free If my house was four miles across the woods. So I pay BT a large sum every month.......

I am with Blueyonder at home and at my university house and they've been brilliant. No limits on how much time/bandwidth I can use and they've even upgraded the connection speed twice in the last year or so for free - what started as a 512kb connection is now 1mb.

I have the 512 and it comes in faster than bro in laws wannadoo. They offer migration.

The plus side is that you get a free upgrade to 2Mb soon. http://www.btyahoo.com/broadbandusage_holding

a quick google found this:

http://www.ephotozine.com/forum/viewanswers.cfm?qid=19540

apparently the limit is 30Gb per month, and the capping doesnt come in til June, metering available in May to test usage, and upgrades available. After the limit is reached you still get some slow connectivity.

ps, glans link is better.

right, thats a couple of choices, will i have to change my e mail addy if i go from BT?

britishtrident - 19/2/05 at 08:39 PM

The BT Yahoo email address wil continue to run and your email program can continue to be able to download from the mail box but not send via broadband --- to keep it active all you have to do is log in via either the BT website or Yahoho once in a blue moon. In addition you will still have the option of pay as you go dial up to BT.

Just to add to the above the best way to keep the same email address over a long period is to register a domain name with hosting service that provides parking and mail redirection to your isp mailbox it costs next to nothing.
