Hardware must be to old/short of mermory --- try Kanotix it will boot on just about any spec pc
If I wiped Win 98 off first would it work, as its short of memory?? The HD is 20gb and 128mb ram, which meets the requirements on the mepis site.

I had a similar issue a while back when testing a SuSE distro-on-CD.
There was a switch you could set for ACPI I think it was. Putting ACPI=no or off or somesuch did the job on a PII with 128MB
Cheers,
Neil
where abouts do I do this??
Adam
P.S. Thanks for all your help!!
Edit:~ Worked it out, but it still didnt work. Anymore suggestions??
