I installed Mepis on my old computer to see how it performs but I forgot my passwords. I got it running again by reinstalling but wondered if there is an easier way to get back in, not that I'll do it again . (I've written it on the table next to the tower)

use a live CD. goto a terminal session type "passwd"

it will prompt you for a new root password.

once you have set the root, go into the user manager and reset all user passwords
